Squeeze Lighting Plots

Squeeze Lighting Plots

The point of these rigs is to keep the focus primarily on the band, and not to distract from the superb musicianship, whilst also trying to make the rigs look bigger than they actually are, and filling the room.

2012 Olympics

I was approached by the Production Manager to provide illumination for the structure and stage that would see games, presentations, interviews with Olympians and dignitaries, as well as provide a nightly finale to the days’ events with a lightshow that could be seen from the main stadium!

All of my designs for BFI were designed with festivals in mind that varied greatly in size and number of lights available- hence the fairly generic look of most of the rigs. The idea here being that every song was lit, and that there would be no gaps in playbacks if there were only a few lights available that day. Still worked, though!

Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden

What can I say? An LDs’ dream. After consulting with Alan Chesters about that year’s stage design, I put together rigs that maintained the Maiden “look”, but reflected what the concept was for each tour. It moved on quickly from Dickie Bell’s original brief of “I want two trucks full of shit”!

Dorian Electra

Dorian Electra

Initially an inherited kit list from the US production, I was able to make it my own during the course of the tour. Dorian is an incredible, dynamic performer who know what they want to see, and it was a joyful experience to make music that was not my most familiar of genres look as rich and varied as possible, and with only a very few lights! For the Barcelona show, I actually doubled the touring package!

In many ways, this was like BFI- most of the touring was festival based, so I would either busk with what they had, or design a generic rig that I could adapt to the day-by-day challenges.

A lovely little tour. Small budget but looked great and filled the spaces very nicely.

Tried to make a small rig look huge. And with a mirrorball!

Shows never happened but the point here is to show the design process and what could be achieved.

Various

Various

Several small shows included simply to show the variety of work I have done over the years. These very basic plots are just for technical purposes. They were never meant to act as presentations.

Waterboys

Waterboys

I produced very dramatic designs for various tours with Mr Scott and the boys. The music was superb, and I think the drama of the show reflected and complimented the music on stage.

Ah - the tragedy. The illustrations shown never happened. We were about to go into the areas around America when...

Madness

This design was again created to service the festival circuit, and so was more generic than it may have been. When we were provided with the rig as designed, it looked fantastic!
